To each his own. For me that would have been a horrible plan. I had and still have all sorts of things I want to do in retirement including travel. If you need the money, you can work full time for a few more months and then retire. You will be better off financially and will not be tied down with a part time commitment.
Actually, I've wondered. If my FRA for So. Sec. is 66 and I take Medicare at 65, how am I billed for it, rather, how do I pay for it if it's not being subtracted from my Soc. Security?
keep in mind that when you collect ss you are protected under the hold harmless law. that means your medicare increases can never be more than your cola .
you have no protection under that law if you delay.
we have had quite a few increases where the amount was larger if you were not collecting .

Kind of what I thought. Why drag it out for so long.
Oh don't worry, they will bill you for it, quarterly, I believe. They are not about to give it to you as a freebee! I was billed the one year my Medicare Part B premium amount exceeded my Social Security retirement benefit. They cancelled the SS payment and billed me for the balance owing.
If I recall correctly I received the bills in the U.S. Mail, but that was a few years ago and I cannot claim to be up to date on their procedures.
You're correct Escort Rider, they are mailed quarterly.
