Dunno what will get me, so don't know where I'll be. If I'm in a CCRC in Vermont, I might be taking advantage of physician assisted suicide in the event of cancer or something.
I'll be wherever I am. No thoughts of "going back home" or whatever, home is where I'll be.
Not sure if that's what the original question was!

Where do you plan to die? could die anywhere now (term Life insurance expired last month)... had an accident and broke my leg the day AFTER it expired...
I'm "in" "funerals.coop", so I'm covered. If I do make it to a care home, I will end my days in the Thermopolis, WY Hot Springs state park ($1400/ month senior care home)
I would NOT be pleased to die at work... a colleague did that last week. (same age as I). At least he was in the parking lot, and not at his desk. I will quickly run for the door if I get a warning!
'Planning to die on a scheduled flight while on company business' for the last 40 yrs... (Double insurance payout) I've even been flying Air Asia and Malaysia more frequently to increase my odds! So far... it's been pretty uneventful.
If I had my druthers, I'd be outside working in the garden, or on one of the trucks. I have lived most of my waking life outdoors, and its where I'm most comfortable.
But in truth, as long as I end up in the right place, I don't really care where I start the journey from. Is there ever a "good" place to die?
I was fortunate to have other influences besides my parents (with whom I still had a stable relationship) in my early life -- one of them was an educator bachelor uncle who had also served as a "guardian" of sorts, to my Mom. The gentleman in question was to live to a little short of age 92, and to spend all but the last few months in a large home he'd maintained. And when it became obvious that the end was very near, we brought him back, hired a companion, and let him depart in a familiar setting.
I'm not geared to a traditional "structure", but I have people to whom I belong. I'd spent a lot of time in the house in question. so along with those friends, we've remodeled the house as a short-term rental for professionals. Nothing is certain, of course, but if I can check out in a similar manner, it wouldn't be a bad way to go.
Not sure. We just bought and are renovating our first home together. I'll be in this job until I retire, which could be in 6 or 7 years. This little house has (or will have) everything we love including easy access to the community beach, lots of big trees (and rocks!! love the granite here), privacy. I could be happy here forever. I'd be happier if my kids were closer.
Like "Nor'eastah", if I have a choice, I will be outside, right here on this little farm.
I have also spent as much of my time outside, that the law allows, while raising my son and working
