Yes, I saw a show about that on 20/20 a few months back. Denmark, because the people are so similar, is the happiest country. They did a 10-year study.

I think it's human nature to be with people of like education, interests, values, etc. I think it probably depends more on that than on any particular diversity of "race".

Personally I'd rather live in a community with people I agree with. Liberals seem to want to live with liberals;conservatives with conservatives and independent don't want to live with either one. Just look at the forum and you will see that people are loking for a area like they are lifestyle wise.More and more want to leave the big city no matter what food it offers.

I am a conservative, so I would rather live in a community filled with flaming liberals. The constant arguing would remind me of Christmas with my family.

Could also be because Denmark has one of the highest standards of living in the world, with mostly govt-paid health care, family leave, guaranteed vacations and retirement.

Singapore was very high on the 'happiest' list too (in top 5 IIRC), so... they have plenty of diversity...(~25% Chinese(Buddhist), Indian (Hindu), and Malay (Muslim), with ~ 25% Christian / other thrown in for seasoning) I really liked living there, especially for the food ... and affordable medical.

A benevolent dictator helped them get there, I don't think the US is ready for stuff like 'caning', tho maybe a few of our leaders and politicians would be worthy of such correction.

Several families I met who had chosen to move there from other Asian countries did so for the 'sense of security', so I think it all fits with the previous comments...

That is probably exactly the case, pnw . ALL of those countries in Scandinavia (and all of Western Europe) are up there in happiness , quality of life and longevity.
