I am so happy, happy, happy that I talked to my granddaughter after 13 years of seeking & hoping. My heart is still pounding & oh, how beautiful it was to finally hear her voice. Whew, all those days f searching are, hopefully, over. My beautiful baby girl knows I love her.

We now have to get to re-know each other. I assume this will take time, but it will be pleasurable. Thank you, friends, for helping me with this journey.

What I am doing is posting different pictures of her dad (my son) on my profile on social media; that's how I connected with her in the first place. My family understands what I'm doing but I am sure I've got other folks thinking I lost it somewhere, lol.

I'm hoping to get closer to her but, she seems to be savvy enough to copy the photos. She does know that they are the pictures I want her to have. Yay for grandparent hood!

At the end of each school year I give the fifth grade students a questionnaire which they can fill out anonymously, or they can include their names if they wish. I ask them to rate the books and stories which I read to them aloud. (I came there to read one day a week) They can include written comments if they wish. The information helps me know which books were the most successful, and is a nice addition to the more informal feedback I get from judging their reactions in class. So after that preamble, here is what I wanted to share: Here is what one student wrote last week:

"Mr. Escort Rider - Thank you so much for reading to us. For the whole school year I've looked forward to the day you read. I really appreciate what you did this year. Best wishes! (name of student)"

There were a few other similar comments, and I can assure you they made my day.

I'm so happy that I made the move to Arizona. It is just so beautiful here with those amazing sunsets. I love to sit on the patio and watch the cloud patterns on the mountains. The view is constantly changing

I'm also thankful that I made the move when I did because finances have changed and, if I had waited, I may not have been able to make the move at a later time. So for those of you who are pondering whether or not to go, don't wait just go! Because you might regret it if you don't go while you can

Glad you like it! You are in a beautiful part of the state too. And, you've just about made it through the worst of the summer heat. Arizona is an awesome state.
