I just actually got a rep from SC, the OP, stating "I like responses". In response to my posting above Riverbird's. So this is all feeding into something for him. Now it has taken on a real creep factor.

Right. Well, because most probably don't realize these thread topics are dreamed up by a 29-year-old in search of material for...something. They're just genuinely trying to contribute to the topic. I am quite amused by it by now, waiting for his next interaction with a senior at the supermarket or in the fitness center and what deep book-club questions will arise from that encounter.

Just because I like to read folks' responses doesn't mean it's feeding any larger objective. If I was using this stuff as subject matter for a book or if I was a professional writer (and I think I could easily be), I wouldn't be working a regular job, like I am now.
