I'm glad this was punted over here, or I would've missed it -- being only 64 1/2.

The Retirement forum, where the discussion actually makes sense. Why was it moved here?

I guess I would fall under agnostic although that seems to have many definitions. Mine being, there is no way to KNOW so <shrug> I'm not going to invest a lot of time in it. Be nice if there was something, guess I'll find out one way or other when I die <another shrug>. I don't understand the rest as I don't feel it, haven't experienced it and don't trust accounts and stories from so long ago.

Lately I've been ruminating on the idea that belief in God/spirtualism and the different depths of emotion related to that may be genetic, like having a temper can be genetic or mental illness although I am NOT implying that belief is that. So many people were raised in the church and don't really feel it. People who weren't raised in the church gravitate toward some sort of spiritual belief. They'll find one or create a new one, some sort of drive there that many of us are lacking. Like some have the spirit gene and some don't and some have a little.

A comment that, itself, shows that he does more so than you, at the very least.

Yes, the use of logical fallacies, such as the No True Scotsman fallacy, is very common in ridiculous rhetoric like that.

So many mind-readers who think they know what others (Obama, etc.?) believe. How can anyone know what another person believes unless it is openly displayed? That has been a real mystery to me. Especially when I gave up mind reading many years ago. I finally realized that if a person kept private about such matters, I could not possibly know what they are thinking.

Also, I think there are people who are private about such matters. They can have a deep faith but do not find it necessary to stand on the rooftop and shout it to the world. Isn't that what the TV evangelists do?

I do not know what makes people do that to another. All I know is they just do.

Plus, what somebody believes could change in the next 5 minutes.

Did somebody accuse Obama of being an Atheist? I hope they are right, you may not like some or any of the decisions he makes but at least he is not pretending that he is getting messages from God.
I am tired of God worshiping phoneys in the White House.

Sounds a little judgmental for a christian, aye?

I'm tired of 'christians' who use religion as an excuse not to compromise.
