They say, but I don't know because I'm not yet retired, that you have more time for everything once retired. This must include eating but I'll need someone here actually retired to chime in and confirm this.

Here's a news article with a headline that caught my attention.

Study: Eating when not hungry bad for health - UPI.com

Who would have thought?

I think the issue is more proximity, rather than time. At work, I had more or less scheduled meal and break times. At home food is always available. It is the same as the old housewife issue of being around food and preparing meals constantly.

In retirement I have more time to food shop, more time to better prepare meals and to eat better.

Yes, this is me! I used to be all about how to get it done fast. Now I can take my time. I don't think I eat more, just better!

I only eat when I am hungry now. It doesn't matter what the time. It also doesn't matter what the food happens to be. I can eat cereal for supper if I am in the mood and supper can be at four o'clock or 9 o'clock. I like not being a slave to the clock because that's the only time allotted for meals.

It hasn't affected my weight at all.

If you lived long enough to retire, I don't think you need anyone telling you how you should NOW live!

I'm not eating more often but I do have time to make better meals.

I do cook breakfast and dinner but lunch is still a quick sandwich.

Like others here, we're better able to plan, shop, and prepare more healthy foods and we're not chained to a breakfast-lunch-dinner schedule like when we worked.
When we worked, we often used foods and snacks as "rewards" for long hard days. Now we don't do that anymore, we're more in touch with what our bodies really need.

With retirement you have more time for everything.

Eating as a nervous habit won't change. I had coworkers who ate when not hungry. My eating habits are the same, except I no longer grab a breakfast sandwich on the way to work. And no more frozen lunches at noon. A good thing.
