My Dad died when I was 25, my mom when I was 31. My only brother died when he was 66, six years ago, last year my last remaining Aunt died last year at 103. I developed an interest in the family history when I was very young and over the years have accumulated an almost complete record of the family going back several generations as well as some poignant and touching stories that I have chronicled for my own kids and grandkids in case they ever want to read them.

Please accept my condolences for your loss. I lost my last sister in September 2015, I'm the end of the line so to speak. A little hard to get used to.

Take all the time you need to grieve and process. You have many people who care here.

It's tough, I went through it when my brother passed. My thoughts are with you and we are always here to support you if you need to talk about it.

So sorry to hear this. I lost my sister this past Thanksgiving and still having a hard time realizing she is really 'gone'. Take care of yourself. Thoughts and prayers for you and yours.

Oh, my. That's rough. I'm so sorry to hear this. Do you have a spouse and/or children?

You know, I know a single person or two who have no family. They in a sense created their own family with a few close friends.

My condolences for your loss. It is ironic that just a few days after this thread was created, you came to be in the position described in the thread title. All these years you had a sister, and now the processing will take some time to accept that she is really gone. I still miss my parents (not sorely but from time to time) 10 and 15 years after their deaths despite the fact that I was not particularly close to them.

I'm the youngest of 5 children, but I was a way late in life baby, to the extent that all my siblings were old enough to be my parents when I was born, so by the time I was very young, they had all moved away, so we were never close. I'm 60 now, and both of may parents and all my siblings were dead by the time I hit 45. The last one standing isn't an issue for me, as we never had a relationship.
