When I officially retire, it will be dismal because my wife and I squandered our money when we were young.

We invested in stocks vs. mutual funds/index funds. (These wild cards did poorly.)

We ate out way too much.

Spent a mint at Starbucks and the local bar

Tried to buy friendships by having the most beautiful home and clothes (I wanted to fit in with the in crowd)

Sent all our kids to private school and small liberal arts colleges

Never paid off our credit cards so ended up spending tons of money on interest.

I could go on and on.
Anyone else like us here?
Well before they cut off your credit cards go out and buy a tent and pay for a PO Box.
There's your retirement

You're thinking of the poster named 'serious conversation'

I know several couples who fit the profile that the OP lays out, even if s/he's a troll.

Bella, I believe he was saying that his kid went to the cheaper public community college for the first two years (associate degree) and then went to a more expensive college for junior and senior years to get a bachelor's degree---actually a smart money-saving way to do it.

True, but there's a school of thought that he's any one of a number of other monikers. Serious Conversation is 30 and unmarried.
