These have been going on for some time but they are getting more and more bold and more and more frequent. We owe it to ourselves, our neighbors and our relatives to discuss this everywhere we go. The elderly and uneducated are especially vulnerable.

So the same government that is going to "vet" Syrian refugees and protect us from terrorists cannot even track down con artists using phones? Yup, that's our government inaction.

I get these calls about once a month. The IRS will NEVER make this type of phone call.

It's hard for me to understand how anyone would NOT recognize these calls as scams.

I think when people get older is a problem. I told my husband not to answer either. This sets up a habit so when our cognitive decline through old age will not affect us.

I got one of those scam calls a couple of weeks ago. The guy practically shouted at me: "This is the IRS! You are being sued for non-payment of taxes!" I could hardly hang up fast enough.

not just old. There was a story on the news about some woman that sent them $10K, and she was in her 40s or so.

She should have called the IRS directly to check into it.
