We only applied nine days ago (retirement for my fiancé and minor child/survivor benefits for our son). The payments start in July, but we are beyond thrilled!!

Contrary to what some critics claim about how the government can't do anything "right", the SSA seems to do a very efficient job of getting payments set up and money deposited in the right bank accounts with a minimum of hassles. I was really surprised at how easy applying was, and how quickly I found out what my benefit would be.

I also found the process very simple. I did have misinformation given to me by a new employee, but after researching it on my own and talking with other SS employees, I got the correct answer.
Applying was easy, approval was quick, payment shows up on the day promised.
