Hmm. A distinguished white beard is quite nice on guys. The key is good grooming, I think. Why don't you do ahead and grow one if you want to?
I did grow one two or three years ago, and I kept it neatly trimmed, so "good grooming" was not the issue. Having the white beard made me look about twenty years older. It was not flattering on me personally. So I no longer "want to" have a beard, and in all likelihood will never have one again.
I have actually given this some thought. I wonder if it would be better to have surgery now, or to wait till I'm older. Seems like it would be better now. But I really, really don't want to do it.
I'd go to a podiatrist first. I just did. A $45 pair of proper shoe inserts realigned my feet and ankles which had been pronating, my knees, hips and lower back and did away with some rather severe, lower back pain when standing, improved my balance and made walking much easier. Also my knees haven't bothered me since, nor have my hips but for some arthritis. Too bad I waited so long. A small price to pay and non-invasive.

I've worn inserts for almost 20 years. I am sure that my flexible flat feet are the cause of everything.
My original prescribed insert, circa mid 1990s, was worn completely flat in a couple of years. So, I respect inserts and have worn them whenever I could. A pair of 3/4 Birkenstock inserts cured my plantar fasciitis back in the aughts. I used them when I walked treadmill. No other treatment worked as well, though it took time.
I also collect all sorts of inserts and rotate them around in different shoes. My current athletic shoes have a nice insert that is lovely. I don't want to ever take them off! I use those shoes for walking.
If you can wear them ( I can't) you could probably wear a pair of Birkenstocks for every day. They have wonderful contoured insoles--no inserts necessary. And they allow plenty of toe room.

We get to decide how to present ourselves. You should not grow a beard if you don't want a beard.
I've posted how I decided not to color my hair, which is gradually going white. We get to decide! And, I'd hate to think of you with a beard looking in the mirror every day and hating how you looked.
DH would never, ever grow a beard! But I must say, I like a guy with a nice, short, groomed beard.

One thing I've noticed recently is the cost of razors! They are getting VERY expensive to the point where they are even putting anti theft devices on them. I keep wondering why but it also makes me think that's why so many men have beards these days. It's a heck of a note when you can't afford to shave!

I think I bought 25 disposable razors for about $25 at Costco not long ago. I shave every 2-3 days, unless it's a special occasion, and I can get about three shaves out of these little razors. I might need to buy two boxes of these a year.

To each his own!
My hair has a lot of silver in it and I don't mind it because it doesn't look so bad. BUT losing the color also dries my hair out badly and it was a pain to deal with. My hairdresser recommended that I put a color on it just to fill in the 'empty' hair and it worked! She told me to put a dark blonde on it and I was skeptical but it looks so natural and really good. Last time I went to her for a hair cut she was surprised at how well it did and said I still didn't need to redo it for a while. Some of the silver has come back, of course, but it just looks like I've had it frosted. I'll do it again when I need to because it makes my hair look and feel so much better.

I have never had much facial hair and what I have is fairly soft; I get way more than 3 shaves out of a razor. I try to remember to toss them every few weeks. As an aside, I shave in the shower using the same shampoo/conditioner on my face as my hair instead of shaving cream and make sure to rinse the razor well. When I shaved at the sink with shaving cream I tossed razors because they were clogged or starting to get nasty looking rather than dull. That doesn't seem to happen as much since I switched to shower shaving.

I've never been a shower shaver. I like being able to see where I'm shaving, and I have poor eyesight anyway, so I shave with my glasses on.
If it's a Mach 3 or other quality blade, yeah, I get a lot more than three uses, but these razors are really cheap and nowhere near as high quality. I can still get a pretty close shave, but I can grow a fairly thick beard (not much of a mustache) quickly. It seems to be cheaper than buying the regular cartridges.
