You can also find patterns to make your own, too, from soft cotton flannel.

Anyone also making their own toilet paper? It seems to me some savings are just not worth it.

I read about someone who does that....each person has their own wipes in a little basket in the bathroom, then a covered basket to put in when soiled.....rinse and repeat! I would think the cost of laundering would offset any savings, not to mention the "gross" factor! I've been through some hard times, but never so much I couldn't afford to wipe my bum!

Install a handheld spray thingie. People say that we Americans are the only civilized country with people that walk around with a dirty butt. LOL

Bidet all the way!

Washing and re-using plastic zip lock bags isn't so much a cost cutting activity but an effort to reduce waste that does not break down. In my parents generation they used a paper with a special coating (not waxed paper).

I reuse plastic zip lock bags, but I don't wash them out. After they're empty, I use them for empty cat food cans. Each one holds 4-6 3oz cans, and when it's full, I throw it out. So since my cat eats 4-5 cans of food per day, they get used up pretty quickly.

My daughter's SO was telling us that his stepdad would "rescue" things he deemed useful. He often jokes that he's suprised the house wasn't busting at the seams.

And how do you dry your butt after spraying with the bidet?

You could wash baggies for the rest of your life and not make up for the environmental or monetary cost of a month's worth of those cat food cans. In addition to the waste of the cans, canned pet food is mostly just water. Look into dry food. If your cat is stubborn and does not drink enough, you can add water to the dry food. Next look at internet ordering. You can buy in bulk for very little money.

I understand cats are creatures of habit. They do not want their food to change. Believe me, your cat will get used to a change within a few days.

TP - but not as much as if you just used that to wipe your butt. When I was in Kuwait, people were shocked at their small rolls of TP. I guess most had never lived in countries with other modes of butt cleansing.

Think about it - if you were to get poop on your hand, would you just wipe it with TP or paper towel. No you would wash it with at least water.
