Seems that your kid's school, day care provider, your employer, maybe a neighbor or two, should have the contact information for the kids pre-arranged guardian and that guardian should have a copy of EVERYTHING and contact information for everyone. What if there is a fire and the originals burn, best to have someone with a copy.

Putting that guardian's information with your medical card--they WILL look for that in your wallet-- and on your phone is good too.

As your kids get old enough they should be able to say 'if there is an emergency Aunt Cindy who lives in Miami can take care of me" and they should practice saying that with you occasionally. My kids could say what happens to them by the time they were 4 years old, and with a city, state and phone number for the person. It takes a little work, but is worth it.
