Interesting--I would never have guessed that. I thought it was going to be a safety issue or something. To me having golf carts enhances your community. Makes it look like a resort, and like a leisurely fun place to live. But, different strokes for different folks.

I know a lot of NYer/New Englander transplant retirees who are looking for an elegant, sophisticated look to their community - not the resort look.

In The Villages golf carts are very elegant at least some of them.
They range from old style 'woodies' to Bentley, Rolls Royce lookalikes, to
Maseratis. All in what yu want

I guess elegance and sophistication, like beauty, are in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I think upscale resorts can be very elegant and sophisticated.
