Just retired in January and am now working a full time job for no money and a lot of work. This job puts me right around the earnings limit which I will have to be concerned about just for one year that being my earnings in 2017. I will reach FRA early 2018 so it will not be a concern by that point.
Couple of questions about becoming an Uber driver. Putting aside the concerns of running up mileage on a car I was wondering how the earnings are handles by the SS Administration. My understanding is you can use the $.54 mile deduction on your tax return. Does SS use your gross earnings from Uber before Uber take their fees from you? Does SS use your income after the mileage deduction so far as the earnings limits before FRA goes?
I don't need to make that much money to replace the situation I find myself in currently. Never worked so hard for so little money in my entire life and I've been around for a while.
