NYC may be a huge city but the neighborhoods can be like small towns.
I actually had someone figure out who I was from my hometown board and noticed they viewed my LinkedIn. This was a few years back. We had PM'd each other about the area - I may have told her my first name but that was it. I was really surprised that she was able to figure it out.

I think it would be easy to tie the posts back to me if you know me, but not necessarily to tie me to the posts if you don't know me personally.

I also had someone I knew in real life that I had shown some posts to casually for a laugh go through what at the time had to have been at least several thousand posts. She found some posts on the relationships forum where I was describing her and told me she never meant to lead me on, etc. We had like a year long relationship about ten years ago and she was "the one that got away." I've I don't know whether to be creeped out or flattered that someone would dig through all my posts looking for some needle in a haystack. I've never since shared any more of my C-D posts on Facebook, give people in person a link to things I post on C-D, etc.

One of the most prolific posters on CD and his wife have memberships in a couple of the same NYC attractions as my wife and me. I've sometimes wondered if I suspected I was standing next to him if I would ask - are you m......

What, nobody has a burning desire to meet me? I speak exactly as I write...the same florid airs. Wait... maybe the dilemma just explained itself....

I rambled in my first post in this thread but I don't want to leave the impression that I would not like to meet a few here nonetheless (and some I might cut down the pre-meeting security measures for a lot because I intuitively know they are good people). I haven't been here for long though so I didn't want to name names. There are a couple in the very far northwestern USA I already admire a great deal and at least one or two in the northeast too.

At least one or two I recognize from other boards I belonged to for years. I never post on more than one board at a time but it is interesting that I recognize people from other boards even when they don't have the same usernames - and I have met others from other boards in the past in real life. I have no idea if those who I recognize also recognize me by my personality and posting style though.
