Based on those numbers and historical data I would guess that unless something changes in the last two quarters there will not be a COLA increase this coming year. So far I haven't seen much of a change in prices either so it would go along with that.

Only this (3rd) quarter counts. So, we will have our answer in October when the September CPI-W is released. I've seen COLA predictions of 0.2%, 0.3% and "less than 0.5%". I think it would be helpful if retirees could mentally prepare themselves for a less than 0.5% COLA but...

That for many will be a challenge and just contribute to the income angst many experience.
Eight plus years into retirement I can now fully understand the plight of those living on just SS or even SS with a pension if neither is receiving a COLA or a negligble COLA. Those posting about the costs of eggs and chicken are being honest about feeling the pain even if those prices didn't really go up.
