Whenever I listen to music, I will usually hear it back in my head a few days later. Sometimes when I have a song in my head, I asked myself when did I hear that? A lot of times it could have been when I was in a store and the music was being played over the PA system. Today, I have a lot of Irish music in my head because I was listening to it last Friday.

Another thing that is really weird, when there is some kind of machine (even our heating system sometimes), I will sort of hear music in it. It sounds like music being played somewhere in the distance but nothing that I can actually make out.

You too! Yes, I hear music, something in some machines, heater running. Can't quite make it out. If my imagination gets the best of me, I can imagine the ghosts using the machine energy to attempt to communicate ! The possibilities are endless. A thought - my adobe house will not support any sort of wifi, blue tooth, etc. Before the big remodel, I swear, one could at times, vaguely hear a radio station playing. Even guests to the house could hear it. After the remodel, we don't hear that anymore. I always wondered if the mesh netting over the adobe (for the plaster) acted as a type of antenna.

I have a constant music track that always runs in the background in my head. It is mostly the popular music from my life starting with the 40s tunes that my mother always had playing on the radio and then the music from my era, mostly 50s through 80s.

Do any of you share this obsession?

If not, what programming do you hear when your environment is silent?

I see it as the sign of a healthy, active imagination.

I was born into a musical family - radio on all the time as a kid, piano lesson and I taught myself guitar....

I have written my own piano material based on what I heard in my head.

Nothing wrong with it.... unless it's earworms of stuff you'd rather not hear.

I prefer Pink Floyd songs in my head.

It's the only music I can't possibly ever get sick of listening to.

I hear birds chirping all of the time, which is nice because you're never alone that way.

But if you talk to them they won't answer you. Bad birds.

Sometimes they try to sing, and it sounds like this -

Ba ba ba ba Barbara Ann (Those are the Beach Birds)

Sometimes they sound like Northern Cardinals - Dominus Vobiscum

or even like Baltimore Orioles - Hey batter, batter, Hey batter, batter

My favorite is the Tufted Titmouse because I just like saying Tufted Titmouse.

It's funny/ironic that as I have gotten older, my hearing has gotten worse. However, I hear the songs in my head loud and clear.
