After living in Lancaster County, PA, for 33 years, we have developed a few friends, but not many. Realistically the locality is way way more conservative that we are, and getting more conservative by the day. We are now getting ready to move 600 miles away. In fact, in 7 weeks we will not be allowed to live in the house we have lived in for the past 26 years since it will no longer be our house.

To say that we don't have some element of fear in the move would be hiding the facts. But people in the new place have reached out to us from the very beginning, and many have cheered that we are finally getting there. The reality is that we've made more friends in vacations there, than we have in a place where we actually lived for 33 years.

We hope for the best. We will be moving away from almost everything we know intimately.

One good thing is that if we were to stay here, we would be confronted with an increasing extent of endings. Moving to a new place guarantees that we will have a balance between a "life of endings" and a "life of beginnings". DW say that we should cultivate friends who are younger than us so that we don't have friends "dying on us", the nerve of which.

Hey Zarathu, how about posting a pic of your new destination? Just be sure not to reveal your address or you will have a host of retired folks on your doorstep! When is the big move??

So much to do. Our renters don't have to be out before Nov 1, but we have to be out of here on October 28. Hopefully our renters will move out on the weekend of October 29/30.

Packing here, Inspections here, finalizing of the buyers mortgage, did I say packing here???

Thanks goodness I'm retired or I don't know how we could have gotten it all done.

And also even acouple of days to go around and take pictures of everything here since its not like I'm coming back again soon.
