Dogs can be just as, if not more time consuming as children.

Ask me how I know.

/have a 5 month old corgi with giardia we can't get rid of..... and a 3.5 year old golden retriever.

Quit being selfish and think about the kid. It's not great growing up with a parent who's elderly and probably won't live long enough to see him or her graduate high school or get married among many other things.
