Or go to the grocery store at 5PM? Or the Post Office, bank or dry cleaners at lunch time?

Pet peeve of mine since my working days.

You live in Florida, as I do, so you realize that they also clog up the roads at the times we are going to work and coming back home. They have all day, but need to go out when we are trying to get to work.

You get on a schedule during all those working years and it is hard to break. After 6 years of retirement I still wake between 5:30 and 6 am. Go figure.

Personally as a retiree, I like to avoid crowds at the aforementioned establishments, so I try to go out and do my errands during work hours when stores, etc. will be less busy. However, if retired people want to go out to the grocery store at 5 PM, or anywhere else at anytime, they've certainly earned that right.

Cuz that's when their friends get off work and are looking forward to the weekend.

I knew you had figured that out, and were only pretending not to understand.

I worked in DC-Metro, home of some of the longest commuting times in the US. After 10+ hours at work, I'd duck into a Safeway or Whole Foods to get something to take home, and I'd run into elderly retirees (some of whom I knew....they retired from my office!), bogging down the lines, writing a check, gabbing with cashiers after being home alone all day.

Same thing if I needed to mail a package at lunch....Post office full of retired people!

Try to get a reservation for a Saturday night and we'd be competing with people who could go out any night, not just the weekends.
