1963 Pontiac Grand Prix, red with a white vinyl top. Nine miles long, nine miles wide and 9 miles to the gallon, Ethyl not regular, that could be had under 30 cents a gallon during "gas wars."
Bought it in 1971 and used it for my driver license driving test on my 16th birthday, first in line that morning of my birthday.
Bought it myself from a summer job money dumping flour in bins at Duncan Hines factory used to make cake mix. Cost a whopping $475.
Thought I had died and went to heaven. Wish I had a photo of it.
1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass. Light blue, 4 door. Bought it in 1971-72, I think.
I think it probably was the largest size car I ever owned except for a Mazda MPV.
1963 white Plymouth Fury hardtop bought in 1981 for $300. A tank of a car, and stock. Naturally, I loved it, as everyone loves their first car. Sold it 5 years later for $300.
My first car that I paid for was a new 1978 Honda Civic. Brown with a beige interior, 4 on the floor, no power anything, no air, no radio. Drove it for about 3 years and from then on it was always Hondas except for one Nissan truck.
Favorite of the Hondas was a 1993 Accord EX, red, stick shift, top of the line model that year. Loved that car like no other. It just fit and if I could have brought it in the house and slept with it I would have!
Next favorite is one I have now: 1998 Honda CRV EX, red again. Will likely never sell it. It could eventually become a ''yard ornament'' and flower pot/bird's nest holder, but it will be mine nonetheless.
My first car that I paid for myself was in 1970 when I was in college. I can't remember what it was exactly. It belonged to my sister's BIL and had sat on blocks while he was overseas in the Army. It was a very masculine 2 door brown fastback 1968 Ford but not sure what kind.(maybe a Fairlane) All I know is it had not been driven for a year and he sold it to me for $1000. When guys saw my car they always were impressed that a girl was driving it because of the big motor in it. It was a fast car. 2 years later when I was teaching I bought my dream car..... a red firebird. :-) got a lot of attention with that car too. It cost around $5000 for top of the line but got less than 14 mpg.
Sad thing now I drive dumpy boring family cars that cost 6+ times the cost of the sporty car of 1972.
1986 Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback
great car, I had it for 15 years and sold it for nearly 1/4 of what I paid for it.
I'd buy a Mitsubishi (It some bishi!) again, but not an '86 at this point.
