I didn't click on the agonizingly slow web pages and pop up ads to see 26 pages. These so called lists I tend to ignore. Someplace I prefer, a small mountain town, is something a guy sitting in his New York City trendy café sipping a $12 cup of coffee with his oh so chic friends while coming up with places THEY think we should all retire to, wouldn't like at all.

Has to be one of the worst lists I've seen.

THAT
Milken? Uh...

For me, low-cost housing, good healthcare and low-humidity are the three big considerations. Want to remain on the East Coast - sooooo.....it never adds up. Constant conundrum!

Anyhoo, have read that many areas end up on some of these types of lists because "money talks and BS walks". . . meaning that sponsoring various media outlets can result in getting your town listed as one of the best.

No place is perfect, we all know that. . . however, when anyone finds a place that is 'best' for them (and that is relative to each individual's preferences/needs), then it's as close to a win-win anyone will realize.

I just said the exact same thing to my husband.

You better have a large nest egg to be able to afford many of the Milken Institute's top 25 since it is pretty obvious that a LCOL or tax efficiency is not one of the attributes that they are ranking.

I could see living in about ten of the Forbes list.
