Hmmmm....after reading entire list, half of these locations "rank low on the Milken Institute list of successful aging." Now how can that be? And wouldn't want to live in 80% of these state suggestions. Guess every criteria is different. Back to the drawing board...

Thanks- always a good browse. If everything is taken with a grain of salt, it is always interesting to see what places are picked. Some make lots of sense and others are really unexpected. I did note that the very vast majority had the comment not very walkable. For whatever it's worth.

Dang, we're on that list too!

There are way too many people moving here.

I know, right??? And FARGO? Seriously? I think I'd expect Steve Bushemi to jump out of the bushes and throw me in the wood chipper!

That was my only area of interest on the list - but WAY too expensive for me.

Ugh....26 click-thrus ?!?!?! No Thanks.

I've seen enough of these lists to know the usual suspects. Once I rule out the bad winters and the high COL areas -- We're happy where we are.

None of the cities on the list appeal to me. There are reasons for lower cost of living, and inexpensive housing. For us that is only once consideration, with weather and proximity to entertainment, services, and family being more important. The places we are considering are within a couple of hours of a major city, and at about 10% over the national cost of living. The only place in our state on the list is Wenatchee, which we actually considered, but is a little too far out, and too hot/dry for our taste.

Didn't feel like scrolling through 26 pages, why can't they just list them all on one page?

Anyhoo, have read that many areas end up on some of these types of lists because "money talks and BS walks". . . meaning that sponsoring various media outlets can result in getting your town listed as one of the best.

No place is perfect, we all know that. . . however, when anyone finds a place that is 'best' for them (and that is relative to each individual's preferences/needs), then it's as close to a win-win anyone will realize.
