"Lifelong"? No - I did have two work friends that were in my life for about 20 years, but we drifted apart for many reasons.

0. There was one lady I talked to off and on for about a month after I was laid off from one job, then that was it.

Nothing else has even come close to a friendship from work.

All of them, except the one I still have from grade school.

Two.

One I've known 25 years now, she was my boss, and is like a sister to me. We'd do anything for each other, and my husband adores her. You don't get too many friends like her, and I feel very lucky she is in my life.

The other, also knows 25 years, met the same place, was also my boss. She rode in the rodeo and I loved to ride but didn't have a horse. Before I knew it, she had sold me one of her horses and boarded it for me, and I rode with her in the local shows. She still has that horse and her granddaughter wins a lot of buckles on him. We are still friends but I'm not as close to her as I am my other friend.

0. I also had a friend from work that lasted about 20 years but we drifted apart. We will send each other a text every so often that says nothing of interest, but I don't consider that "friendship".

Two different stories. Two different posters.

But I just wanted to commiserate with you both.
Man it BITES when an old friendship goes south, doesn't it? It has happened to me, and it really makes you think, sometimes.

Best wishes.

A few but they have all since passed away...

I guess this is what happens when you are the new kid and those you work with are considerably older.

I have made some very good friends through work associations... they work for other companies or lease space at my company... does that count?

We've known each other for right around 20 years. I'll count it as life long. I also consider her my best friend.
