I am not a regular poster on the Retirement forum, but do remember reading Robyn's intelligent, detailed posts. And I remember her once helping me try to figure out why my parents' Medicare copays were so high. I enjoyed reading about her posts on Ponte Vedre as I hope to retire to Florida one day. I am sorry that her life was cut short by a terrible disease. My condolences to her family. May she rest in peace.

I'm sorry to hear about this. I had wondered for a while what happened to her. She and her husband had good retirement years, traveling all over the globe despite his MS. I hope he will be able to manage without her.

Chances are he will probably soon join her. It is usually the way with a lot of couples.

I am having my fourth round of chemo today. So far - so good. For me - it is merely life-prolonging - and not for that long. Maybe a year at most. I am not in a lot of pain - not now at least. Mostly - I am very weak (from the radiation and chemo). Can't walk too far (like from one side of the house to the other) - and not without a walker.

I have thought of you from time to time - your stairs and your comments about them. I am not sure stairs would be a huge problem (if I had them). Although I couldn't climb them (our home handyman put in a railing between the main level of the house and the garage (4 steps) and grab rails in the shower.

What is a big problem is having someone to take care of you. I am lucky to have my husband - but other people wouldn't be as fortunate. I know I wouldn't be happy going to live in a "senior facility" - not at my age - but I am quite content at home.

In any event - you can't plan for any of this. What will happen. When it might happen. And how it will happen. And what you might have to do. About the only thing I can say for sure is the medical care is very expensive and I'm glad I have good insurance. Robyn"
Oh no! I hate hearing about Robyn passing away. I posted in Jax alot but also about senior living and every time I was preaching the benefits of CCRCs I could depend on Robyn to jump on and present a rational and cogent argument against them for anyone under 80. But it boiled down to her loving her home.

Seems she was 100% right.

RIP Robyn.

Smile Very sorry to hear

Robyn and I had exchanged emails many times and she knew where I lived. I was hoping to explore her area some day and meet her.

I thought she was amazing. I'm sorry for her husband and for her father.

One I've wondered about the last year was TexDave. He apparently was a Vietnam Vet who was disabled and his writings came off at times like a drunk sailor. In the latter years he must have gotten better speech software because his posting became more readable. He stopped posting about 1.5 years ago but was very active prior to that time. Believe CD was his escape to the world.

Enjoyed her comments...one of the people on CD you would like to meet in real life...
The part in the obituary about her being a better attorney than her husband seemed to fit her humor spot on...not a whiner...wonder if she wrote it knowing her time was short...
Sad to outlive your children...

I always looked forward to reading Robyn's thoughts on so many topics here in the Retirement. Her insightful posts will be missed by many of us. I wish her family strength through this difficult time, and words cannot express my feelings. RIP Robyn55!
