I do take a handful of pills daily. Only two prescriptions of thyroid and a diuretic for a crazy issue I have had for over 35 years. The other pills are vitamins. I think they really help me to feel better. Maybe all in my mind. I do not take any blood pressure meds or statins horror-mones .
Not judging, but is needing to pop so many pills you have those full week containers for every day very common for older folks? I saw someone pull one out and I just think it would be awful for several reasons:
1. I hate having to take pills at all, not just due to the inconvenience but I am always paranoid that they'll give bad side effects or cause some bizarre bad reaction.
2. I have a huge trouble swallowing pills, sad I know but I have choked on pills several times and it really bothers me.
3. You probably have a ton of health issues.
Granted, this woman looked to be in her 60s-70s but still. I'd think my life is over if I need to pop several pills every day. Is it common for older folks?
Well, I don't like to use those containers myself, but, I feel like your comments are sort of ignorant.
Back when I really had pharma pills to take, I always put them in the holder. All my life I've had a very bad short term memory. I've held the bottle of pills, and remember I took one but not which one. So I'd have to either miss one or take too much. Now, I take all the bottles, then the vitamines/suppliments and put the bottle back in the box. This isn't new as I was like that as a kid.
What worries me is if I get older and do need pharma (just 65) how do I get the benefit when I have clearly figured out that most pills never get fully absorbed, if at all, from all the surgery from the mess left by the illness I had. That and how most docs just look blankly at you. My best wish is not having a case full of pills again.

With pharma you are stuck. A lot of supplements are available as "Isotonix". which is a powder that you mix with a little water. They specifically extol their ready absorption in this form. Multivitamins, Calcium, magnesium, Vitamin D, red wine extract are a few of my favorite things this way. Search for them online. You can take them individually or mix the powders for your daily dose.
Just for the record those particular pill bottle tops flip over to be used as easy open screw tops if you don't want to use them as the child proof type...

"Old age ain't for sissies." <So you have to use a pill box...if that's the worst thing you have to do, it doesn't sound too bad>
As Grandma would say:
"Be grateful for old age, consider the alternative." <no explanation needed>
I try to keep these in mind as I fill my pillbox (and DH's) each Sunday morning.

Also, why would it annoy you that something exists to make life easier for those who might need such an organizer for prescribed maintenance drugs?
