Fall is my favorite season.

The rains end, the tourists go home, the nights become cool and the days crisp.

By Halloween, we usually get our first snow.

cooler temps, fewer bugs, awesome leaf colors,
being able to work outside without sweating (I hate hot weather!)
the flowers: thistle, asters, sedum, others I don't know the name of.

College football mostly. I enjoy hiking when it's a bit cooler outside, and being able to open the windows without the humidity.

Even though the grass mowing slows down, our yard is covered with trees and the easiest thing to do is to simply use the riding mower to mulch up the leaves. There's no real slowing down on the mowing until at least well into November once the leaves have all fallen. We have a few straggler trees that hang on until December. The leaves are already turning here and we will be having highs in the 70s and lows in the upper 40s/low 50s this week - so probably an early fall.

I despise winter and anything to do with it.

What's NOT to like about fall? The humidity generally drops as the temps become cooler, and you can leave the windows open all day as well as all night. I love watching the changes in my garden, as well as planting new shrubs and bulbs for next spring (I'm going in heavily for bulbs this fall). Fall weather makes it possible to get all kinds of work done on the house and the garage, such as applying wood caulk to the stairs and repainting window sills -you can forget about doing that during the summer when it's so darned hot! Plant sales and bazaars spring up all over, and the last of the garage sales take place. I LOVE the smell of wood smoke from neighbors' woodstoves and burn piles, and the sound of migrating geese and ducks. And everything seems to lead up to Halloween and then all the other holidays. Fall is the BEST season of all!

Me too! We are still in triple digits here and I'm tired of it. Yesterday we had a thunderstorm but it didn't cool off much...from 109 to 101. Nights haven't been too bad but still running the ceiling fans 24/7.

Not looking forward to that huge Mulberry tree in the front yard 'shedding'. My lord, that thing leaves a LOT of leaves! I've usually got someone who'll take care of them for me. This year it's one of my grandsons but it's a while away yet.

Maybe cooler weather and less money pay to run A/C. But my garden will be a pity.

Brisk mornings.

Trails, parks, lakes, rivers, mountains, and roads become less crowded. Feeling like the residents get their town back.

That's in addition to the usual fall pleasures (weather, the smell and sight of changing leaves, being able to cook with the oven or crockpot, no bugs, seeing migrating birds).

The one thing I do not like about fall is knowing winter is around the corner! That has always been my least favorite season, by a huge margin.
