I tried to express my affection for Autumn in this poem I wrote:

Thanks Giving for Friends

Give me these cinnamon-scented days
with their fall of golden light
and ginger leaves drifting down.
Grant me these velvet starry nights
while I nest and pull high the comforter.

Oh these Thanksgiving days
give me pause to think of you
my spicy friends of all the seasons
we spiral dancers of moon and sun.

Pile on the gravy and the dressing
Pass me the sweet and the mashed.
Pies of pumpkin, apple and pecan
Oh my! Fill my plate full and high.

For you who nourish all my days
I whisper words of gratitude
And especially now, when I feel
so filled with home-cooked love.

I love the back-to-school specials at the corner liquor store.

I love tuning up my snowblowers in anticipation of the coming snow.

I love tuning up my skis. Winter is my favorite time of year, and few things are as beautiful as fresh powder on the slopes.

And, of course, the ski-through ATM machine.

I look forward to having jacket pockets to carry my cellphone, keys, keycards, fobs, earphone, and wallet - hard to find room with just pants.

Cool weather is better for hiking (rarely gets below freezing)

Fewer crazies on the downtown streets. I think a lot of em go south for the winter.

Not seeing super hot scantily clad young women who I have no business looking at walking by. Sounds great in theory, but not when you know you're invisible to them.

While I love summer (yes even the humidity here in SC), I do look forward to fall. I will be able to go for my bike ride at 9AM instead of 7 so I can get my ride in before it gets too hot. I can golf later in the day too. I love the fact that the kids are back in school and most of the tourists have gone home. The beach is empty and so is my neighborhood pool. And then there's FOOTBALL!

I love the fall decor! Back in Michigan in the '80's Arts and Crafts shows were very popular with great crafts, not the generic, "everyone is doing the same thing" craps, I mean crafts, of today's craft shows. I have many favorite items beginning with fall running through Christmas. I unpacked and set out my fall decor on Saturday, and it was like Christmas opening up all the wrapped items. Since I still work and am gone alot I haven't really decorated much these last few years in my new house.

I ordered a new fall flag from Amazon, and replaced the porch and garage white lightbulbs with yellow and orange ones I got at an estate sale last spring. Love those estate sales for "blasts from the past" items that are hard to find now-a-days.

I also love the fall only/seasonal flavors of all kinds of food items in the grocery store, namely pumpkin items. I once had pumpkin fudge, I cannot tell you how smooth and creamy and delicious that was.

Me too! I love when it gets dark early, it is like someone telling me, "Okay, you can stop now, stay home and relax. You don't have to feel guilty because it is dark out." LOL, I am weird too.
