Anything involving needles or blood. I would spend all day alternating between fainting and vomiting.
I just got the funniest visual from that... not to laugh at you, but I giggled inside!
One of my friends is a phlebotomist, and said once that she's not good with needles. I was like "umm, isn't that your JOB?" She replied "Yeah, but I'm fine with inflicting pain on OTHER people; just not receiving it myself." LOL
Obviously we have a big thread about dream jobs and careers but what about nightmare jobs , is there any jobs you would hated if took it up
When I was a kid , I would have hated to have been a binman , although I do massively respect the job noe and think they are underrated members of society.
I joined the US Army in 1957 and got out in 1960. If I had reenlisted for six years , I would have most certainly served in Vietnam. I believe that would have been a job I hated.
Working at one of those kiosks at the mall. "Sir, would you like your glasses cleaned?" "Ma'am, do you have chapped hands?" "Sir, do you want to hear about our phone specials?"
I am not the person you need in a dire emergency. I am so grateful to have emergency responders and even gung-ho civilians who can leap to the rescue of people in a pinch. I am not that person, and I would have been hopeless trying to be that person. To any of you who fought fires, crime, wars, used life saving procedures, or saved lives in any fashion, you have my profound gratitude for your service. I am one of the ones who would have needed rescuing!
I could never have been a surgeon or pilot. I simply lack the confidence in myself to be able to do either of those jobs.
I recognize that people who can act fast in an emergency, or who can operate on the brain, are special people of which I am not.
Social worker or psychologist. I have very little to zero patience for whiners who won't take action to fix their problems. I'd end up slapping someone and getting arrested or something.
Also, anything I'm not good at. I quickly learned I'm really bad at factory work where you get paid by the piece, because I am slow! Even when I try to be fast. I once tried a job packing pears and quit because I couldn't make any money at it. I marveled at the people around me who could hold involved conversations, while their hands were furiously packing pears at the same time. I'm not capable of that.
Janitor. I get grossed out easily by other people's dirt, even though my house is not pristine. Cleaning up someone else's hair and other grossness, just makes me vomit.
In my opinion, any work that is is performed for pay is a job or it will soon become one.
But to answer the OP's question, in the 1970s, I ran as fast as I could from teaching, especially at the pre-college levels. I will always thank the old television series called Welcome Back Kotter for that.
