Please tell me why would "old elderly doing just fine" be sad? And wouldn't "old elderly" be redundant?

Wouldn't the fact that they are doing just fine be a wonderful, and good thing? That would be a blessing.

I have a pretty well developed sense of humor, and this ain't qualifying.
Yes^^^^^, what you, and the horse lady before you said. I didn't think what the OP said was humorous, or appropriate. It sounded more like "Why are you doing so well? Why don't you just kick the bucket, and get it over with."

Got it, boss. Bottoms up.
Yeah, in other words he can't be bothered. It kind of goes with the "sadly" "joke" which was lame. Or he could say something polite like I can't get to it tonight, but will try to tomorrow, or something to that effect, sigh.

I guess some of us suffer from early onset lack of comprehension and "humor" must be the first sense to go.
Now this ^^^ was actually funny. There is nothing wrong with our reception . My rabbit ears are aimed in the correct direction. If he had left off the word "sadly" I think his post would have been alright.
