I grew up in a family that never celebrated the holidays (long story). When I got married, my wife decorated our brand new home to the hilt for Christmas. She died at the age of 19, three months pregnant with our first child, six days before Christmas. We were only married for a little over five months. I never remarried. I spent 40 consecutive Christmases in a patrol car.

Now that i'm retired, I spend the holidays serving food to the less fortunate on Skid Row, my last patrol assignment. I've been very blessed in many ways, so I load up the back seat and trunk of my car with toys and toiletries to give out to the homeless and displaced. To see their faces brighten up with hope for better days ahead is the best Christmas gift of all.

Merry Christmas tuborgP!

I also posted a Merry Christmas and happy healthy prosperous new year to ALL the lonely Seniors this holiday.

May we have REAL Peace on EARTH .

And for those who celebrate the birth of Jesus, or to those who celebrate Channuka, or other holidays this year, may their celebrations be bright!

Let us also not forget those less fortunate than we are.

I have to work today, so to all those who, like me, have to work, may you day go smoothly and the work shift over quickly!!!

There are many special days this time of year and may we all feel the love that unites all of us.
Wishing the same to you and your family.

Thanks for the wishes- I'm still thankful to have elderly parents to enjoy the day with because I know that I won't have that opportunity sometime in the future - and many retirees can't say they spend the day w/ parents anymore. So very thankful.

BTW, some of my fav Christmas Days were spent on the beaches (Ewa) in Hawaii as a kid....still vivid memories decades later.
