I'm "filed and suspended", i.e. I applied for my benefits at age 67 and then suspended so that DH could draw spousal. This was in March 2016 before the big changes.

I'm now 69 and 3 months old, and more out of boredom than anything else decided to go ahead and start my benefits.
Good gravy, I have never encountered such a mess!
SS regs and POMS clearly state all I have to do is give oral consent, but the online SS reps don't seem to have a clue. This after spending 50+ minutes wait time, twice, to reach them.

Both told me to "reapply" for benefits. HELLO, since I've already applied, your website won't let me do that, there's no such option.

I don't need advice or tips. We have an excellent local office here in Fayetteville and I'll either make an appt. to visit them in person or I'll just wait 9 more months and my benefits will automatically start.

Point is: I'm good but dang it's a mess. My heart breaks for those who, unlike me, can't afford to wait and wade through the maze.
