I try to avoid going out NYE. Just too much law enforcement out there.

I only left the house briefly today to haul some stuff to recycling.

I watched the fireworks they shot off at Progressive Field from my window. I didn’t think they would do it this year because of the cold.

Still watching “The Twilight Zone.” I’ll have to check with the neighbors tomorrow to see how the party went.

We’re actually camping. If being in a camper van in an RV park is actually camping. And no it is not. But yes we are in nice RV park that is surprisingly full for this time of year. Cheers!

Amateur night -- I stay off the roads. The gun-loonies will get tanked up and shoot into the air at midnight so I stay under cover. I have company from out of state and we are all home and accounted for. We are having 60 degree days and relatively mild nights so some folks will be out. Happy New Year.

Wife has had the crud for 10 days and I just picked it up yesterday. We're staying in. If I want to watch the fireworks all I have to do is step outside. It sounds like a war zone and we still have over two hours before midnight.

We braved the weather (8 degrees at midnight) and traveled several blocks to attend our home city's observance of the New Year.

It is NIGHT-time!!! of course I am out (every night). Usually to bed by 3 - 4AM on 'weeknights',,, Weekends... likely out all night (as was common when living and working in Barcelona) and my many yrs as a weekend truckdriver...

Too many yrs of night shift, I can't be sequestered indoors. (And I needed to get my last free Frosty of 2017, probably #300 or so (from the looks of the scale / mirror))

Freezing rain tonight is not so nice (San Antonio area), especially compared to 2 yrs ago tonight in Sydney (and the start of a 1 yr 'OUT of the USA' RTW) Next election yr I will do the same - GONE Oct - Oct,just come back to USA to vote.

Well, there you go, we went out as we do every NYE. Went to a French restaurant with friends but actually got home by 11 and watched the fireworks on TV. You don't worry here too much about drunken drivers as the cops are out everywhere doing random breath testing. And most people going into the fireworks have to take public transport.
But gosh, how cold it is in the US!! Don't blame you wanting to stay in. We have only had two Christmases and New Year away from home. The second one we were in Colorado on NYE. Keep in mind that most Australians have never driven on ice and snow, and the rest only rarely. It was snowing and foggy and we were trying to drive a mile or so to get some dinner. Husband took a wrong turn and ended up on the expressway. he has never ever been so stressed out driving in his life, before or since. Not even driving in Sicily! Anyway we and our then teenage daughters made it eventually to the restaurant. I walked in and said that I simply had to have a drink. They then had to find someone old enough on the staff to serve us alcohol and it turned out the only one who was 21 or more was the manager.
I hope it warms up a bit for you all. My cousin is in Florida and it does seem nice there. It is forecast to be 44C/110F in western Sydney later in the week. Glad we live on the coast.
