Most of us are freezing our buns off all over the country. And even if it was a balmy 80 degrees I would not go out because the roads are full of drunks tonight and July 4th. Two night I try to stay home.

If you do go out how late will it be when you get home?
Happy New Year to all CD friends. Let's hope we find peace and good health and good friends in 2018.

There’s a party in my apartment complex but I don’t feel like getting dressed up and going. I’m content staying home watching the Twilight Zone Marathon with the cat.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Vote here for home! But at least in part because just got back today from two weeks with relatives. It was a great two weeks, but now that I’m home, and the car is unloaded, to misquote a song:

That outer door shall not swing out
I swear it on my life!

There is much to be said for the creature comforts of warmth, a book, a fuzzy blanket, and music on the hi fi. (Or was that 1960?)

Happy new year to all, however and wherever celebrated!

We are having family over for cocktails in about an hour. At 11:30pm we will walk down to the palisades overlooking the Pacific Ocean( 2 blocks) for a gigantic fireworks display while sipping on champagne and eating our 12 grapes while wearing our yellow underwear!

I'm off to my in-laws here in a few, it's ~12 miles of backroads out here in The Boonies, GA. If I see another car, I'll be shocked.

But I'll almost certainly be home by 11pm too... I've seen the new year enough times in my life, it's not anything new to me. That also limits the risk of driving as much as possible. Not much more I can, or am willing to, do...

It's -29C (-20F) here in Calgary, Alberta right now. All the outdoor celebrations and fireworks have been cancelled due to nobody wanting to die and be found in the spring with a 2018 tooter pressed to their shriveled lips.

Home in front of the fire for us!

I have been to exactly two New Years Eve parties in my entire life and I didn't particularly enjoy either one of them. I much prefer to be home on New Years, especially when it's this cold outside. I don't consider this an "old" thing because I didn't go out even when I was young! Just not a big party animal, and I sure don't want to get out in ice with a bunch of drunk people driving.
