Is there such thing as Anti-Snow birding (NOT reverse snow birding)?
I mean where one lives half the year somewhere hot (e.g. Arizona) during the summer and lives somewhere cold (e.g. Minnesota) during the winter. One would probably do this for the love extremes and perhaps cheaper prices I would guess.
I'm sure you'll have some ski and winter sports enthusiasts that will do it. Most people prefer warmer weather to colder, but there are people going the other way too.
I haven't run into a single person in my 10 yrs here. I do know several snowbirders return north for the holidays for a little snow and quickly return to Florida warmth.
Interesting fact: My wife spent our first wedding anniversary in Scottsdale, AZ in June. I actually really enjoyed it a lot. Possibly I am a nut, but I have always enjoyed Phoenix area during the summer. The heat fits with the scenery well. The crowds are also gone.
I really like winter up here in Duluth despite the cold. The snow and ice fits the North land well. I always smile and feel on top of the world when I am chopping logs in -5F. It feels right.
I sort of am. I moved from a moderate climate to a cold one, from the PNW to the Great Lakes Region but not because of the weather. That really had no influence on me other than I would never move to a hot weather climate.
Most folks that like the cold, tend to stay away from the heat. My folks live full-time in central Montana and complain anytime the temps get above 70 (and brag anytime they're below -40)...
is it wrong that I'm envious of that? That I'm looking forward to when I can have the same for myself?

I could see that in coastal California, but coastal California is not really a snow bird state because of its expense. When I lived there, natives hardly went to the beach in winter time because of their lack of weather fortitude. Summertime it is crawling with surfers and tourists.
Trivia: I guess it is a thing for people to surf Lake Superior in late fall when the gales are in force up here. Lake Superior shredded our lake walk on October 27th and blew it to smithereens. I could see how one would want to surf it.

To address the original question - I guess some people might want to get a house-sitting arrangement and be paid rather than pay for lodging, with braving extreme heat and cold perhaps being the downside of the arrangement.
I wouldn't be interested in this sort of arrangement, I have a lot of hobbies that have "stuff" needed to do them, and when I have even had part of my "stuff" at my parent's house and some at an apartment in my mis-spent youth, it seemed that always there was some tool, some supply, that was at the "other place" so I had to buy or bum a replacement.
Unfortunately, I kinda am what you describe but not because I want to. I live in Ohio, have a place in Oro Valley, AZ (just NW of Tucson). I spend Oct-mid December in AZ but then am back in Ohio for balance of Dec and then...ugh...Jan & Feb before going back to AZ for March and part of April. My wife is a corporate accountant while I work from home so can do that here or there. Once Jan 1 arrives, she works 6 days a week preparing financials so I am in Ohio to make sure a fire is going each evening for her, keep things tidy, cut & split wood, etc... By the time March rolls around, I am a basket case as I love adventure, hiking, cycling, warm weather, blue skies, sun...little of which is available in Ohio at that time of year. Wife comes out to AZ frequently in the fall as that is when she can take time off. I'd love to spend all winter in AZ but want to stay married so....
