...eh...it makes for a fun, counterintuitive kind of story that everyone likes. "Hey, you don't have to be a teetotaling abstinent vegan to live long and prosper!" Who doesn't want to hear that? Everyone likes the idea of a nasty grandpa or grandma, too - preferably cussing up a storm.

Gave up smoking 20 years ago, barely drink anymore and I do like slower women. I don't run as fast as I used too.

Fast women are for the young guys. I'll take the ones I can easily catch.

For me the answers are golf, cigars, scotch, and young women all of which keep me young at 75.

Makes a more interesting story too.

I love the responses ! My great-aunt outlived 5 husbands and had a boyfriend in the nursing home when she died at what we think, was age 97.

My grandpa, who died of black lung (coal miner) at age 88, had a still, made moonshine and sold it during the prohibition, and did a shot a day and always got drunk at the Russian club at church, every Sunday. He danced and sang a lot.

He would have lived much longer had the black lung not got him.

Something is going to get you. So why not have tons of fun without abusing one's body too much (no illegal drugs!!!). I think genetics is the prime reason one lives long or not. Again, within reason. My 2nd ex-huband did work in Africa, caught malaria because he forgot to take his pills, was messing around with native women, and suddenly dropped dead at 55 yrs old, despite otherwise good health. You figure !

Keep the stories coming.....

Here's a hint:

Married men live longer than single men.

Single women live longer than married women.

Nuns live longer than nearly anyone.

I suspect there are a number of wisecracks waiting to be hatched upon those words.

Its because married women tend to get so fat. All that good cooking--- No, really. Obesity is a huge health risk factor.

I've read that in the rest of the animal kingdom, females outlive males regardless of the species. Maybe those males should stay married longer.

Or maybe they should take up drinking bourbon and cigars like the man in the OP's story.

My bio dad lived this topic to a tee.
He passed away and at the viewing his then lady...made it a point how she settled him down. What a hoot that was....none of us refuted it...we figured she lost her mind years ago by even being in his life. He loved chasing..beer,whiskey,and the next hustling scheme...
