Hi,

Has anyone received their SSA-1099 tax form yet?

(I'm located in California)

Thanks!

I got mine on Monday. Man it's nice to see that good-sized number in Box 5....glad I waited til FRA.

BTW -- I managed to nearly destroy the thing with that envelope they send it in. Tear this edge first, then lift to open.

Yes probably a week ago. They probably mail out a limited number each day. I would think you will have it by the end of the month.

If you need it I would check your online account at SS and see if you can print a copy. Never did this but it is common for a lot of tax documents from private industry.

Per SSA, online availability of SSA-1099 is not until Feb 1

"
If you currently live in the United States and you need a replacement form SSA-1099 or SSA-1042S, we have a new way for you to get an instant replacement quickly and easily beginning February 1st by:
Using your online my Social Security account. If you don’t already have an account, you can create one online. Go to Sign In or Create an Account

BTW, "SSA mails the Form SSA-1099 and Form SSA-1042S (Social Security Benefit Statement) first class between January 3 and 24 each year for delivery by January 31."

but keep in mind others who filed earlier who did not delay , get to look at a bigger savings balance either from the checks they got being saved or the assets they did not have to spend down while delaying .

so both cases can be nice .

My M-I-L got hers early last week. She also received her Pension Plan 1099 which completes her two sources of retirement income. I did her taxes on Saturday using TurboTax and filed her Federal Return Electronically for her. The IRS started processing returns on Monday the 29th so she should receive her check from them soon.

Unfortunately, on Monday she received a W2 form showing ~$17 of imputed income. She used the "Free Legal Services" provided by her former employer and Union last year to have a Will drafted. There is a token amount of Imputed Income assigned to each user of these services which she did not remember.

Now I wait until I hear she has received her IRS check, then file a 1040-X for her since she will likely owe $3 in taxes on the small imputed income amount.

That is what I get for trying to be time-efficient!

Mine came yesterday. I, too, just about destroyed the "envelope" getting it open. Yikes.
