Not to be a spoil sport
And am very happy that you have finally been able to retire
But when I did--after very stressful last year of teaching--and the death of my father and our dog--I developed a bad case of shingles...
The doctor who diagnosed it said that shingles often comes with a release of stress---
And you would think it would be the opposite...
So hope that you have had the shingles vaccine and don't go through that...
Enjoy your retirement

I’ve so enjoyed your countdown over the past few months.

This is from NASA’s Shuttle launch procedure. It describes that last day at work and walking out the door:

T-minus 0 seconds: The solid rocket boosters will be ignited, and the bolts that have secured the shuttle to the ground in the last six seconds of the countdown are explosively released, allowing the orbiter to rocket into the sky. Once this happens, we have liftoff!

Congratulations!

Congratulations on your retirement! It is a bit of a strange feeling for a while; like did it really happen? My wife continued working for three months after I retired. So it really was different to see her off to work each morning and then thinking about what I was going to do with my day, since I no longer had to make that daily trip.
