So do I! My recycle bin is in the garage and probably 60% of my mail each week gets dropped in on my way back inside the house. It's so annoying!

Try this. Every time you sign up for anything, inclujding car registration or voter registration, insert a different bogus middle initial, and keep track of which signup you used for each middle initial. Then you will know who is selling your name and address to the junk mailers. Not that it will do any good to know that.

Yeah we get a bunch. When we signed up for a few trade magazines, the onslaught got worse and worse. We have tried to discontinue most of these "free" trade magazines, but guess what, they get paid by the advertisers according to how many of these magazines are sent out. So my "renewal" postcard where I write cancel in big black letters go unnoticed and the magazines continue. Now we get trade magazines for every trade imaginable.

I think AARP sells our names. We get every insurance, cremation, hearing aid, ad imaginable!

That said, I put stacks of things in the recycle bin. I'm glad the USPS is still in business. There are times I still write a snail mail or mail a letter or greeting card and am glad to see the little white truck come to pick those up.

There is a major problem with that in that for each name put down in writing, one has just created an alias, a legal alias, for themselves.

Things that have to be listed on security forms, finger print cards.

Admittedly, I came across that trick in, 1983 I think in an information security film I saw in college....or since I did information security for real in 1987, it might have been then. Anyhow, this defense analyst in Washington in the film used a different middle name with each item so he could track who sold him out.

I've received tons of junk mail in my adult lifetime. It has been around for decades. I don't honestly think it has increased for me. It has stayed about the same.

Can you legally deposit the junk mail back into the post office mail box?

Why should you be forced to receive it if you do not want it?
