DW turns 66 March. Myself June. She will file on her birthday. I will file and restrict on mine and request spousal.

Best way to do this? On line?

Thanks

You have to call after she files on line. You can't do spousal on line

I saw nothing on the application for dong that. It was a 5 minute phone call. They spoke to my wife first and then i got on the phone and approved it. I was amazed how quick.

But look at the on line paperwork , i saw nothing for spousal on it.

I'll go this way. Sounds easy and I can get the persons name ID # etc. in case of an error.

I just looked i am correct . There is no way to actually file on line for spousal.

They give you only the ability to print form ssa2 from a link and mail it in snail mail with all the documentation . It was easier for me to file on line and then just call and get my wife's spousal added .

Do I need to wait a period of time after filing on line for mine before I call to get spousal added?

I waited about 2 weeks to make sure i was all approved and processed but i guess you can do it sooner. She is in the system once she applies.

It went very smoothly .
