I too have been a long time insomniac. But about a month ago, I got some Camomile capsules and tried them. The first night I took a whole capsule, fell asleep quickly, and slept for 12 hrs. Felt a little drousy the next day. So now I empty out about half the capsule, sleep well, and wake up alert.

For me, it seems my circadian rhythm is slightly longer than 24 hours. I got to see this firsthand during summer vacations from school, where I'd stay up incrementally later, until my schedule rolled back around to being "early" by traditional definitions and I was ready for school again. The best I've ever felt is when I went to sleep about 8pm and woke up at 4am.

I have Advanced sleep phase disorder.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanc...phase_disorder

I get tired and go to sleep at 7 pm then wake at 3 AM. It's an inherited disorder; 3 of my brothers are the same.

I just adapt.

That sounds like an interesting thing to try. I'm sure Amazon has them.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I take 1/2 of a Kirkland Sleep Aid pill (Doxylamine Succinate, Unisom brand name) at 11pm and 1/2 of a Swanson Ultra Dual Release Melatonin 3mg tab (at 11:45), usually falling asleep by midnight and sleeping 6 1/2 to 7 hours, as long as I cut off most fluids after 9:30 pm.

Taking just one, but not the other, even at a full dose, and I wake up after 4 hours and can't go back to sleep.

You're welcome! But I spelled it incorrectly! It should be Chamomile, 350 mg, Solaray brand. Yes, off Amazon .

I love the watcher idea, too.

When I was working, I’d have said I as an insomniac. Had to get up early, preferably around six, often still wide awake in bed at 3. Life was pretty miserable. Now I’m retired, I just say I’m a night owl. Fall asleep around 3 or 4, wake up between 10 and noon. Life is now infinitely pleasurable.

i tell everyone that I'm fantastic in bed.

It's not because I'm a good lay, it's because I sleep 10-12 hours a night uninterrupted

LOL

I hope you know how lucky you are. I can't even remember the last time I felt something remotely close to "drowsy."

Welcome to Dairy Farm Boarding School!!! (DFBS), you would have been PERFECT!!! I only wish I could have adapted... without need for the daily beatings...

I am sure it is still my inner (outer) rebellion to DFBS that sees me awake at 3AM nearly every night... tho I find I need to get under the covers before the sun peeks out! Hopefully a couple hours sleep will still allow be to get out and do the chores before breakfast.

DFBS made you GLAD when 7:30 AM finally rolled around and you were allowed shed the manure boots to head to school (at least until the 4:30 pm milking...)
