Two safes. One in plain view, light security, containing copies of documents and semi-important stuff and a few hundred dollars. Another one, high security, fire resistant, containing the most important documents and valuables and larger amounts of cash. If robbed at gunpoint, take them to the first one and open it for them.

Unless they have spy cameras, which is wrong...just saying

I have a large safe. It's mostly for storing musical instruments. But I actually prefer safe deposit boxes. When I was a kid, my parents were burglarized along with the family who lived next door. In both cases, the burglars just took the safe!

they have cameras and they can always send some one with you . anything not permitted by your agreement can be confiscated and turned over to the proper agency or law enforcement to research and see why you are breaking your lease agreement storing questionable items .

you agree to it when you sign the contract .

"you agree that we may turn over to any law enforcement agency or gov't agency any object of yours which we believe at our sole discretion to be prohibited by the terms of this lease and we will bear no liability for doing so

you forfeit all rights to any contents stored in the box that are not permitted by the terms of this lease.you hold us harmless for any loss or liability for any actions we take at our discretion with respect to any non permitted contents ."

so there you go , when you sign it you agree .

Don't have anything beyond a small firebox for passports/ss cards. Don't have any really expensive jewelry. Probably should have a larger box for our will; however, our lawyer's office is right around the corner and he could print off a new one quickly for signing again if necessary. Don't keep cash anywhere but in the bank.

Just means they won't insure it if something happened.

hold on there .. the bank does not insure anything you put in thei safe deposit boxes . they cover zero . in fact chase limits you to 25k in valuables but it is up to you to insure them . .

you are 100% responsible for your own insurance . they even tell you the boxes are not waterproof so plan accordingly .
