It didn't fool me for very long but during scary thunder storms, my dad would say that it was just people up in heaven, bowling. Oh sure, LOL.

My mom told me I'd get worms from eating Nestle's Quik out of the can with a spoon. Apparently it's fine if you mix it with milk though, lol!

She also told me bats are attracted to blonde hair, and if one got caught in my hair I'd have to go to the hospital to get it cut out. We had recently moved to my grandparents house in the country, and I think she was afraid I'd try to play with them or something!

That story about the stork always confused me. The only place I ever saw one was in a story book. To this day, I don't think I ever saw a live stork. Where do they live? How did that come to be such a common story in places that didn't have storks?

When my father was stopped at a red light, he would always get the car rolling right before the light turned green. He was looking at the light turn yellow in the other direction and I was too young to notice. When I asked him how he knew the light was going to turn green, he told me the intensity of the red light would get higher right before it turned green. I believed him and I swear I noticed the red get more intense. When I figured it out some months later, he just laughed.

When I wouldn't eat my vegetables my mother would say "People in Europe are starving."

Sending them my vegetables wasn't an option.

I believed them when they said hard work paid off. I have not found that to be the case a lot of the time.
