Tow service calls que by payment method. Alternator in newer GMC died 18 miles from town of 5,000. Called AAA for tow. Informed this Sunday night had overload, the wait was several hours. Rural location, dismay noted, was informed that I'd be at the head-of-the-line were I to pay cash. Was this doable? Darn right.
Service driver arrived within 45 minutes. In route to town, this employee called a chain automotive business to inform of part need. Dropped at this location, paid tow operator with greenbacks. Part arrived within 20 minutes. Install began immediately. 7pm arrived shortly thereafter, store closed and my installation continued. In a three hour time frame I was up and running. Cancelled tow policy the next day. From what I learned, there was no service in this service (this was nine years ago). Cash was the way to tow!
