Anyone here old enough to remember the stone age? (grandma, raising, wife)

Back in the stone age, before scanners, I knew some rich person that would hold up the supermarket check-out line for 10 minutes because the ad in the paper and the sticker on the can were off by 10 cents.

I certainly do remember! I also remember when the sticker would be missing from an item the checker would announce, I need a price check on isle 5 and would tell what the product was.

i tell my grand kids about their grandma's pet dinosaur all the time .

i am not allowed to tell stories to them about me . my wife says all my stories end the same . "AND THEN THE COPS CAME "

A few months ago I found myself in line behind a "price matcher" at Wal-Mart. This lady had a stack of newspaper advertisements with lower prices and she insisted in going through every item one by one and making the cashier reprice each one.

The people in line behind me pushed their carts to a different cashier.

OTOH, Amazon has a newly designed store that totally eliminates the check out line.

I definitely remember the 'pre scanner/pre barcode' grocery store trips with mom. The cashier had to enter the price of everything manually and she would read the price aloud so we'd know she wasn't overcharging us.

Getting a job as a 'bagger' while in high school was considered to be a 'plum job'. Especially if you got good tips carrying groceries out for the ladies.

I'm old enough to remember being handed a paycheck twice a month, and then being given an extra ten minutes for lunch that day because it felt like everyone in town would use their lunch house to drive to a bank and then stand in line for 30-40 minutes (or more) just to deposit that check.
