I would shampoo my hair in the shower and sometimes I just used the shampoo suds on the rest of me down to my toes. That seemed pretty efficient to me and I wondered how different shampoo and bodywash really were from each other. I was so happy when I found Trader Joe’s 3-in-1: shampoo, bodywash and conditioner. That made my practice officially sanctioned.
Let me guess - you're a guy? I saw a funny meme a while back showing a woman's shower with dozens of different shampoos, conditioners, body washes, etc. Then it showed a guy's shower with one product: the 3-in-1 shampoo, body wash and conditioner.
Maybe the OP is just using "getting cleaned up" as a transition from their work day to the rest of their day?
Lots of people doing outdoor or otherwise dirty work shower off the grime when they get home - so what if it is 4:00, 5:00, or 6:00 pm? Then they feel fresh to start doing their own stuff for the evening. Used to be guys would clean up and shave off their "5:00 shadow" before going out on a date - now you're lucky if they shave once a week! ...just sayin'....
I use irish spring soap and for about a year now I put moisturizing lotion all over after my shower. I began with the lotion after getting hit with shingles and then a case of eczema last winter. I guess I do have very dry skin and very thin skin for that matter. Well, spill your guts!
No, I do not and never have. I have very dry skin too and so I alternate a quick sponge bath with a shower. I also use lots of lotion but in winter it is a tough battle. I shower once or twice a week in winter, maybe 2 to 3 during warmer weather. No particular day or time of day. I put it off as long as possible. And no I am not a guy. I just have things that appeal to me more than getting wet and naked in the bathroom. If I were rich and had my own pool I would never shower except in cold weather. And I won't go in a pool with others. I view them as huge toilet pools.

You might think you're kidding, but this IS the real reason why people talk about "old people smell."
If this thread is an indicator, there are many old people who are not keeping up their hygiene.
I think if you asked a doctor what is best for health, they would recommend daily bathing.
They used to bathe you daily in the hospital before hospitals went downhill.
And related to that, when doctors started washing their hands in between patients, the spread of disease went down. There is are reasons to keep yourself clean besides "comfort" and what you feel like doing or not doing.
Now that I'm retired I only shower once a week, and the rest of the days I do cat baths. And I only shave once a week now as well. I never thought the day would come when I looked upon taking a shower as work!
