When were the good old days in your life?

My military years. Dedication/comradery/friendships/travel. Yes, there was a lot of BS to put up with. Deployments. War games. Real Wars. Family separation. But, my God, what an adventure it was.

Yup. Oddly enough as a Marine during the Vietnam War. And it was an adventure. Young and healthy. Seeing different parts of the world including SE Asia and different bases in the US. Life after that was kind of boring.

I should have included my military years also

I cannot remember a bad day "at work". They were but those are a a faint memory

I don't understand how people can constantly complain about their jobs - they just don't have that bond i guess.

I salute you, Marine. I was USAF (Gulf War I), but wife and I raised a Marine (Gulf War II/GWOT), so have mercy,

Mid twenties to mid thirties were my best years. The thing that sways me to that view was my excellent physical condition. I could just do anything I wanted. It was such a great feeling.

... My “best guess” about my best good old days would probably have to be in my 40’s — I was single-again, had the kids and the house, a real good day job, and a wonderful, 3-nights-per-week job, playing drums in a local Country Music band.
Those were some heady days, Y’all!!

Very happy days when the children were young and my parents were alive. They would come and visit several times a year for holiday weeks and it was so much fun. They were wonderful parents and grandparents and we all miss them very much. Never quite the same after your parents die if they were loving.

We also had great family vacations to the beach, Disney, national parks, Hawaii and cruises. Now travel seems like more of a hassle. I loved being a SAHM before going back to work when the last one hit middle school. I really didn’t want to go back then but felt I should not “waste” a graduate degree.

Retirement is very enjoyable now but I sometimes miss those days in the 80s to mid 90s. Just glad I loved to take photos and videos which we all enjoy.

College. I learned as much outside the classroom as I did in the classroom. Good life lessons.

I used to think it would have been fine if time had stopped in 1957. We had good cars, aspirin, and penicillin. But I'm allergic to penicillin, and now we have so much more medical care than back then, so ... weighing the good of the 1950s against what we've lost and what we've gained ...

Tough call. I do wish I could go back to the sort of lifestyle I had when younger, swimming every day in the summertime, knowing all the local business owners, riding my bike everywhere, playing barefoot outside, being young enough to actually ride a horse whenever I had access to one ...
