A tragic accident, I presume?

Only IF, like tomorrow, I have a hair apt at 10. Otherwise, I sleep when I need to and never go by the clock.

I don't own an alarm clock. Are they still made?

Only rarely if I have to do something early or an appointment. Maybe a couple times a month.

On days when I'm going hiking, I need to get up early....
otherwise, no alarm (usually wake up with the sun anyway).

Who needs an alarm clock when you have a cat?

If we aren't up to feed him at 6 am, we hear a few gentle mews. Than a few louder meows, and then he jumps on the bed and starts batting at me. Anyone who thinks a cat can't tell time needs to meet my cat. He knows when it's 6 am, and he even adjusts for daylight savings.

As others have stated, our cat is our alarm clock.

Speaking of witch (pun intended) soon after I retired, the cat knocked over my alarm clock and broke it.

Said to myself, "guess I gotta get a new alarm clock."

Never did.

That's funny. My cat must be from the same litter.

I have found over the years 7 hours makes for a good sleep for me. But Sammy? No. He gets me up early so he can go to sleep. His job is done for the day.

I was so happy the day I turned my alarm clock off for good. The funny thing is now we are up super early every day no alarm needed.

The cats will also make sure we are up early just in case we sleep a little late.

The dog on the other hand is the last one up. She gets up much later than the rest of us.

I'm an early morning person by nature and years of having to set the alarm for 4:30 or 5:00 AM finds me getting up at that time every day anyway.

Plus one of the cats refuses to read the text I sent him about leaving me alone if I'm not awake by 5:00 AM

I also still have horses to care for so that means early to the barn to feed them, get them ready for turnout, then clean stalls.

That said, unless I have to be somewhere or I have cut pastures or mow, I am ready for a big nap by 11:00 AM. I record the noon news because I'm sure to be sleeping thru it, lol
Just curious since you said horses (not cows or such requiring milking) - is there a reason horses have to be fed early or could they get used to a new schedule say at 8 am rather than 6 am?
